!f Istanbul Launches an International Competition: "!F INSPIRED"
From 2008, !f hosts an international film competition dedicated to showcasing new directions in cinema. Comprised of 8 to 10 films from around the world, the competition carries a $15,000 prize for “Most !nspired Director”. In 2008, the competition will be decided by an international jury consisting of John Cameron Mitchell (director, Hedwig & the Angry Inch, Shortbus), Wendy Mitchell (editor, Screen International), Perry Ogden (photographer, director, Pavee Lackeen), Christophe LeParc (Cannes Film Festival Directors Fortnight) and Reha Erdem (director, Times & Winds).

Reha Erdem (Jury President)
Born in 1960, Reha Erdem
graduated from Istanbul’s Galatasaray Lycee and studied history at Boğaziçi University
for three years. He then left for Paris where he studied Cinema and Plastic Arts
at the Paris VIII University. During his stay in France he shot three short films.
Since 1990, he has been working as a commercial film director, and he won the awards
for Best Director at the 8th and 10th Crystal Apple Commercial Awards in Turkey.
Award-winning films he has written and directed include: Oh Moon, A Run for Money,
Mummy I’m Scared and Times and Winds.
John Cameron Mitchell
John Cameron
Mitchell directed, wrote and starred in the film Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001),
for which he received the Best Director and Audience Awards at the Sundance Film Festival. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe as Best Actor. He was executive
producer of Jonathan Caouette's multiple award-winning film Tarnation (2004). His
latest film Shortbus was released in 2006. He has directed music videos for the
bands Bright Eyes and Scissor Sisters.
Perry Ogden
Christophe Leparc heads
the Director’s Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival. He graduated from
the Institut Superieur de Commerce in Paris and has been working in international
film festivals since 1990. Between 1991-2001, he worked with the International Women’s
Films Festival. Since 1994, he has been the head of programming and production at
the International Mediterranean Film Festival. He joined the Cannes Film Festival
as part of the Critics Week section and was general coordinator of that selection
before becoming head of the Directors Fortnight.
Christophe Leparc
Christophe Leparc Cannes Film Festivali’nin en önemli bölümlerinden biri olan "Quinzaine des Réalisateurs"ün yönetmeni. Paris ISC Yüksek Ticaret Üniversite'sinden mezun olan Christophe Leparc, 1990 yılından beri uluslararası sinema festivalleri ve organizasyonları için çalışmakta. 1991-2001 yılları arasında Uluslararası Kadın Filmleri Festivali ekibiyle çalıştı. 1994 yılında Uluslararası Akdeniz Film Festival'inde programlama ve prodüksiyon yönetim görevlerini üstlendi ve halen devam ettirmekte. Cannes Film Festivali ekibine Eleştirmenler Haftası bölümü bünyesinde dahil olan Leparc, kısa sürede bu seçkinin genel koordinatörü oldu, ardından "Quinzaine des Réalisateurs" organizasyonunun yönetimine getirildi
Wendy Mitchell
Wendy Mitchell is
the senior editor of the leading international film trade magazine, Screen International,
and its sister website ScreenDaily.com. She has been based at Screen's London headquarters
for more than two years. Prior to that, she was based in New York as managing editor
of independent film publication indieWIRE and also the print magazine IFC Rant,
indieWIRE's joint venture with the Independent Film Channel. Wendy has also written
about various entertainment topics for Glamour, Playboy, the New York Daily News, Paper, Billboard, Silicon Alley Reporter, Time Inc., Salon, CMJ, Rolling Stone Online,
Spin Online, and other online and print publications. She earned a B.A. in journalism
from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
