Greek Film "Pink" Wins !f Istanbul International Competition

The closing night for the !f Istanbul International Independent Film Festival saw Greek director Alexander Voulgaris awarded the Most Inspired Director for his feature film Pink (Roz) in the debut !f Inspired Film Competition. The award, designed to showcase new directions in cinema and bold innovative story-telling, carries a cash prize of $15,000.

"Transvestites" has been selected as the viewers favourite by the !f İstanbul audience!

Transvestites, the short film that applied a satirical approach to our prejudices towards transvestites has been selected as the viewers favourite by the !f İstanbul audience! Directed by the young director Aykut Atasay, who is a postgraduate student at the Bosphorus University, the short film was screened as part of the “Shorts from Turkey” section within the !f Istanbul AFM International Independent Films Festival.

!f Istanbul celebrates its seventh year by launching !f Inspired, an international film competition with a cash prize for emerging directors that promises to bring the best in exciting global film talent to town.

The competition for films from around the world carries a $15,000 cash prize and will be decided by an international jury of five experts which include renowned director John Cameron Mitchell, trend-setting photographer and filmmaker Perry Ogden, Christophe Leparc, who heads the Cannes Film Festival Directors Fortnight and Wendy Mitchell, editor of Screen International.
