about the film
Lily McKinnon is an awkward fast food waitress, excluded because she simply doesn’t fit. Wrong dress, wrong walk, wrong talk, wrong everything. Yet beneath all the wrong is a little bit of wonderful. She’s a best friend with no friends who sails through life on a rocky sea, grateful because she’s on a boat when some people in the world don’t even get to ride on a boat. She has a crush on a man who walks into the Meaty Boy burger bar every lunch time has an identical mole, above his lip, just like her. That man is Jarrod Lough, more interested in Lily’s pretty workmate. He doesn’t give a toss about the weird girl with the weird mole. He is a video game champion, determined to win respect but pushing all the wrong buttons. His social switch is permanently off. On the day Lily gets fired from her job at Meaty Boy, she musters up the courage to attend Jarrod’s annual “come as your favorite animal” costume party. Much like Wes Anderson’s films, Eagle vs Shark – an instant favorite at Sundance 07- is a hilariously funny yet painfully real tale of two oddballs, struggling to love.
