about the film

Filmmakers Isabel Coixet, Wim Wenders, Fernando Leon de Adanoa, Mariano Barroso, and Javier Corcuera team with Javier Bardem's Pinguin Films and Doctors Without Frontiers to look at stories of neglect, brutality, crime and suffering from Africa and Latin America. The Invisibles are those we do not want to see, but who end up appearing inside our fears and our unease, among other things, because they never stop existing. This is a story of stories. It’s an acknowledgment of those many of us have cast to the back of our minds (if we’d ever heard of them in the first place) and a desire to give voice to those who have been silenced by our indifference. It is also a modest tribute to those who never looked the other way. Above all, it represents the intention of five influential directors to make these unique, real-life protagonists visible. The Invisibles is a powerful, disturbing wake-up call in a world where too many live in need of help.
