about the film
Beauty is subjective, youth indisputable. The story is not about a beautiful boy, rather about his youth, which has become an obsession of our age. The stunningly beautiful Dorian Gray makes three holy vows: he will never betray a friend, kill another person or sleep with a man. Based on the gayer version of Oscar Wilde’s only novel which was set in the 19th century London, Roy’s contemporary retelling of this classic tale about the corruption of the soul is set against New York’s art world. The cold decadence of the Big Apple’s art circles provides an excellent stylised setting for this narcissistic mystery.
It explores the relationship between the dealer, the artist and the collector.
